Replace parking management systems 75 Q-Park locations (2015/2016)

About the project

• The challenge:

  Our biggest recent partnership project was the replacement of the parking management systems of more than 75 parking facilities across the Netherlands, Belgium and the UK. The parking management systems must be reliable and future-proof and be linked to Q-Park’s own control room. A minimum downtime was a prerequisite during the project, and due to the major impact a solid preparation process was essential.

• The solution:

  Prior to the start of the project, we created a detailed plan, including a project plan and risk analysis for each of the subprojects. We started the project with an extended testing period and successful certification in accordance with the stringent Q-Park standards. After a successful pilot project at the De Colonel parking garage, which is located beneath Q-Park’s head office in Maastricht, the other parking facilities in the Netherlands were gradually equipped with our parking management system and matching ParkAdvance parking equipment.

  In addition to the familiar barcode and MIFARE® technology, all entry and exit terminals, door readers and payment terminals are equipped with Dip & Go and Tap & Go technologies. This technology enables carpark users to identify themselves and pay easily, ticket-free, quickly and securely with their bank card, loyalty card or any other accepted card. Users do not need to enter a PIN or use a payment terminal. In addition, the majority of parking facilities are fitted with automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) system.

• The result:

  Our ParkID software platform has provided Q-Park with a reliable, innovative, and future-proof parking management system, which can easily be upgraded with new features and to suit new requirements. In addition, the system ensures more efficient parking management. All garages in the Netherlands can be centrally managed from our web-based ParkID software platform, including intercom system and CCTV. Q-Park can manage all parking facilities from its own central control room in Maastricht. We have created a special dashboard containing the 10 most common operations, so that employees can manage the required parking facility with a single push of a button.
