MECC Maastricht
MECC Maastricht is a conference and exhibition center that hosts numerous conferences, trade fairs, and cultural or sporting events. There are four exhibition halls with a total area of almost 30.000 m², two conference centers, an auditorium with 1.700 seats, and a total of 2.200 parking spaces.
Large events are increasingly being organized at the MECC and visitors appreciate being able to reserve a parking space or purchase an exit ticket in advance. In addition to event visitors, various other target groups use the MECC Maastricht parking locations. Think of exhibitors from the MECC and visitors and employees of companies in the vicinity of MECC Maastricht. For these visitors, it is important that they can easily see which parking location has enough availability near their destination.

The challenge
MECC Maastricht has been using WPS's parking management system for years. This system was recently replaced by ParkID and the associated ParkAdvance. ParkID is a cloud software solution that can continuously be adapted to the changing needs of parking owners or operators, just like it has adapted to the requirements of MECC Maastricht. For instance, MECC's solution includes options for discount cards and ticket validation via the GUI and allows setting different parking rates per parking area, payment terminal, event, or date and time. Additionally, MECC Maastricht also wanted the option to manage capacity and a tool to improve traffic flow during busy times.

The solution
At WPS Parking Solutions, we have clearly mapped out MECC Maastricht's requirements. We then expanded the ParkID parking management system (PMS) with the ParkWebshop from WPS Marketplace partner Besite. Thanks to the integration with the PMS, the entire process of reserving a parking spot is automated. For visitors and other customers, this means more convenience and the ability to rely on a parking space. Because the parking space is arranged in advance, visitors can quickly enter and exit, ensuring optimal traffic flow and insight into payment transactions for the operator.
Managing capacity across the eleven parking locations is also possible with the ParkWebshop from Besite. Additionally, during busy periods, visitors can now be directed to one of the parking locations. During peak times, all parking lots can be opened, allowing reserved visitors to park in any available lot. This helps ensure the flow of traffic and visitor satisfaction.

The result
ParkID is a flexible, scalable software platform. The system is robust and easily expandable with new features and functionalities, such as the ParkWebshop. The ParkWebshop allows MECC Maastricht to quickly and easily determine its own parking offers, with options and rates that suit the target audience and the day's situation. Thanks to WPS Pay, searching for a payment terminal and standing in line to pay is a thing of the past. Visitors can rely on having a parking spot by reserving it in advance. For visitors, this means better traffic flow, more convenience, and an optimal experience. Thanks to WPS's open and adaptive ecosystem, MECC Maastricht is always prepared for the future.
