Walter Peeraer, Service Manager

Walter Peeraer, a true WPS veteran, embarked on his journey in the parking world starting as an intern in 1988. Since then, he has become indispensable within our company. As Service Manager NL, he leads the entire process with expertise and dedication, from resolving issues to handling escalations, together with his dedicated service team. One thing is certain: Walter gets it fixed! What you didn't know about Walter:

  1. Q: What is your biggest 'parking blunder'? Have you ever made a hilarious parking mistake?
W: Absolutely, even though this isn't a typical 'parking' mistake but rather a general 'blunder': a long time ago when I was still a service technician, I submitted a card reader/printer to our repair department, complaining that the ink cartridge was empty. Little did I know that we were using thermal printers... These don't require ink!

  2. Q: If you were a car, what type of car would you be and why?
W: Certainly, a sports car, primarily for its speed. I like to compare my team to a speedboat. If someone falls overboard, we make sure they get back on board safely, but our aim is always to advance at maximum capacity, fueled by our dedication to ongoing innovation.

  3. Q: What are three things you can't live without?
    W:
My wife and children. Fun, because life should be enjoyable. And, of course, not to forget, WPS.

  4. Q: What is your guilty pleasure?
W: Ah, I can't resist a sugar waffle with chocolate. Delicious!

  5. Q: What is still on your bucket list?
    W:
My motto is 'go with the flow.' I just want to see where life takes me.

  6. Q: If you could swap jobs with a colleague for a day, who would you choose and why?
    W:
I think I would like to spend a day as a software programmer. I'm always curious about their process.

  7. Q: What can people wake you up for in the middle of the night, aside from a parking problem?
W: Honestly, nothing. A good night's sleep is important!

  8. Q: Which everyday task would you like to magically make disappear with a ‘parking wand’?
W: Hmm, a good question. But I don't have something specific in mind. I don't mind doing the dishes, and I make sure the hour drive home is always enjoyable. It's the little things every day that make a difference.

  9. Q: What gives you the most energy during your work?
W: Nothing makes me happier than satisfied customers. If we can provide them with a seamless experience, that really gives me energy.

  10. Q: Do you have a hidden talent that not many people know about?
    W:
Well, I can be kind as well. Beneath my direct approach lies a friendly side.

  11. Q: If you had a time machine and could travel to any period in history, where would you go and why?
W: I would travel to the future to see what parking looks like then. It would be cool to start now with the developments we'll need in 100 years.

  12. Q: If you had to sing a song in a karaoke bar, which song would you choose and why?
    W:
I think I would go for "Rustig wachten op de dag dat heel Holland Limburgs lult" by Rowwen Hèze, just because I come from America, Limburg (Rowwen Hèze does too), and I like the song.

  13. Q: How would your friends describe you in three words?
W: Direct, amicable, helpful. My approach is often straightforward, I value friendship highly, and I'm always ready to help where needed.

  14. Q: What do you want to achieve professionally?
W: Professionally, I hope to contribute to our growth and innovation. With successful establishments in the Netherlands, Belgium, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Canada over the years, achieving expansion into additional European countries would mark a significant accomplishment for our organization.

  15. Q: To whom do you want to pass on the 'Meet our Parking Experts' baton?
W: I would gladly pass the baton to Rick Duffy, the Managing Director of WPS Canada. With over two decades of experience accumulated at WPS, he undoubtedly possesses a wealth of insights and valuable experiences to share.
